To understand your situation and accurately design a system, if needed, a radon test should be completed. This can be done through either a home test or by a licensed professional. The professionals tend to be more accurate and are usually used for any property sale or refinancing.

DuPage Radon Contractors does not do testing.

Professional Testers

Professional testers are licensed through and regulated by, the Illinois Emergency Management Agency. Tests usually range between $100 and $300 per home.

DIY Tests

Self-tests are usually $35-$65 each. They are available in local home centers and hardware stores.

2. Design & Bid

We can arrange for a trained radon system designer to come to the building, to investigate possible system locations and design a system. The System Designer can explain the system and usually provide you the price and proposal while at the building. This process usually takes 30-50 minutes. The process can be completed for a vacant property with the information emailed, but it is helpful if you can be at the property during the design process.

To
Schedule

A system installation can be scheduled by calling or by filling out our contact form to indicate your interest.

Before
Arrival

Please empty any crawl space(s). In all unfinished basement rooms, move items 2 feet away from outside walls and off large floor cracks. Washers, dryers, and attached shelves can remain. All areas of the building may need to be accessible. Please have payment ready for installers.

During
Installation

The work is usually completed in one day. The work can be noisy and mildly dusty. Workers will go back and forth and in and out of the building. All trash created by our team will be taken away. Pipes in unfinished areas may be exposed.

4. Radon Retest

Wait at least 24 hours after the installation to perform a post-test,. If the original test was performed by a professional tester, it may make sense to consider using that same provider for the post-test. They usually charge a little less because they already have a diagram of the building. Also, if you are selling the home, and the buyer chose the first tester, picking the same provider reduces any chance that the buyer questions the validity of the tester you chose, because it was the tester THEY chose.

Did you Know...?

  • Don’t Skip the Test

Without the radon test results, it is more difficult to design an efficient mitigation system. That’s why we ask that a test be completed even if the decision has been made to install a system regardless of the results.

  • Beware of Phone Estimates

Some competitors have begun to give only phone estimates. However, companies don’t always specify who bears the cost if their guess is too low. One company says they guarantee their phone price, but in reality will walk away from the job if upon seeing the building they realize their phone bid was too low.

  • Highly Competitive

DuPage Radon Contractors is aggressive in finding ways to install a system as efficiently as is reasonably possible and to leverage volume parts buying that keeps prices extremely competitive.

  • Careful System Design

To ensure the best looking system possible, a highly trained System Designer is dispatched to your building for free before installation. He or she considers your needs, the building’s layout, and state regulations when deciding the location, style of system, and parts to specify.

  • No Down Payment

Payment is accepted at the end or beginning of the job. Checks, cash, or credit cards are accepted.

  • One Day Install

Nearly every job is completed the same day it is begun. We can assign extra installers to the larger jobs to ensure that they take one day.

  • 100% Success

Sometimes mitigation can be tricky. But, because of our great diagnostic skills and equipment, we have installed over 12,000 systems and have never had a situation where we could not get the system to the goal radon level. 99% of the time, we succeed on the first try. We’ve even helped competitors on jobs they could not solve.

  • Don’t Skip the Re-Test

It is always suggested you re-test to be sure that acceptable levels are achieved. While it is rare (less than 1% of the time), even we can fail to get the radon down to below 4.0 pico curies per liter on our first try.

  • If Fail Re-test Free

It happens, even to us. If we fail the post-test, all adjustments needed to the system will be completed for free. We even pay for your second re-test.
