Testing My Home32 Illinois Administrative Code 422, Adopted Rule Section 422.70 states that "Mitigators shall not perform radon measurements before or after the installation of a mitigation system at the same address as the mitigation installation". This means that as a mitigation company we cannot test your home before or after we perform a mitigation. You have a few choices in how you test your home. The first is a do-it-yourself approach and the second is to use a licensed professional tester. We always recommend a professional tester if you going to be involved in a real estate transaction. Do-it-yourselfYou can try to get a test kit from either your local county health department or from the state at radon.illinois.com . As of this time the state is out of kits for 2009. You could obtain a test kit from any of the local hardware stores. You can also obtain a test kit from us at www.yourhealthierhome.com/rahotekit.html Our kits are simple to use and are very accurate. The cost includes return postage to the lab and the lab fees. Local TestersFor real estate transactions, we recommend contacting any one of the licensed testers listed below.
